Dr. Cassandra Steer is an independent space security consultant, who has consulted for the Canadian and U.S. governments, as well as on projects with SSCL. Dr. Steer holds a PhD in International Law, and has over 14 years academic experience teaching in Australia, Canada, the Netherlands and the U.S. She is Executive Director of Women in International Security-Canada, formerly Executive Director of the McGill Institute of Air and Space Law, and Acting Executive Director of the University of Pennsylvania Center for Ethics and the Rule of Law. In 2020 she will take up a position at the Australian National University to build and teach Australia’s first comprehensive Masters of Space Law programme.
